Abstract

This article covers the issues of the production of the opera «Carmen», which premiered in March 2015 at the Abai NAOBT. A characteristic feature of this reading of the opera was that it was created in line with the modern traditions of the «director's» theater, which has gained particular popularity in Europe. In this regard, attention is paid to the above-mentioned phenomenon, which influenced the scenography and directing decisions in the production of «Carmen». By means of a comparative-analytical approach, an attempt is made to consider the modern interpretation of A. Buribaev in comparison with the version of B. Jamanbaev. There are common and different points in the conductor's interpretation of the two maestrop.
